There are tons of exciting, exotic, delicious, fresh guacamole dips out there, but before you take a crack at making them, you need to know how to make a basic guacamole recipe. Here’s a quick guide to help.
Get the Basic Ingredients.
There are certain guacamole ingredients that you’ll almost always need. First, you should always get about two avocados, half a teaspoon of salt, fresh lime juice, two tablespoons of minced onions, a couple of minced serrano chiles, two tablespoons of chopped cilantro, some black pepper, and half a chopped tomato.
Putting It Together.
To make fresh guacamole, all you really need to do is mix all of your ingredients up together. Slice your avocados in half, and take the pit out. Then, slice the avocados’ meat into cubes, which will make it easier to remove with a fork. Once all the meat has been taken out, mash it with the fork. Throw in the rest of your ingredients, stir, and you’ve got some fresh guacamole.
Storing It.
The trouble with fresh guacamole is that it doesn’t stay fresh guacamole for long. After being exposed to open air for a long enough time, it can get kind of gross. In order to store your dip, get some plastic wrap, and lay it on top of the guac, so that it’s literally touching the dip. Then, wrap it around the sides so that no air can get in, and there you have it. This should keep your guac good for a few days.
Once you’ve mastered making fresh guacamole at its most basic form, you can not only whip up those aforementioned, exotic guacs, but you can also now do some recipes using guacamole, like a grilled guac and cheese with bacon, for example. A whole world of new possibilities is open to you!
