3. Peanuts are nuts.
You might be thinking, is a peanut a nut? Peanuts are actually not nuts! They are considered legumes botanically, but the Food USDA lumps them in with the nuts and seeds category, which causes some confusion. You’ll also find them in the nut section in the grocery store, and not with other legumes, so we’re just used to calling them nuts!
